Book Review: Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater

Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater
Rating: 3 out of 5 stars

Grace has always watched the wolves in the woods begins her house, one wolf really. Her yellow-eyed wolf.
Sam leads two lives: human in the summer, until the chill of fall makes him shift and he joins the wolves.
After a local boy was rumored to be murdered by the wolves, hunters are sent to rid the woods of the beasts. Gunshots ring out, and Grace finds a yellow-eyed boy, bleeding from a bullet wound, on her back porch. Sam is human again, but with the oncoming cold weather, he has to fight to stay with Grace, to stay human. If he doesn't, he will lose himself forever.

If you enjoyed Twilight, you will enjoy this romantic fiction. It was an easy, fast read with plenty of romance and drama. My only hesitation in recommending this book is the not-so-healthy, not-so-realistic relationship between the two main characters. Word of warning: 98.97535% (rough estimation) of relationships are not like theirs. Although this plot has been done many times before, it was still a fairly entertaining and easy read.

Readers, don't forget: you don't have to love every book you read. In fact, you don't even have to finish books if you aren't enjoying them. A lot of people feel like they have to suffer through books they don't like, but you don't!

Happy Friday,

JR
